Many of today’s parents tell their children to turn off the video games, but those same parents — grounded by a torn ACL or slipped disk — may be turning them on during the course of their physical therapy.
In the basement of Manchester Memorial Hospital, surrounded by exercise balls, a pulley machine, treadmills, and parallel bars, the latest therapy device has come in a little white box — the Nintendo Wii.
With the aid of a flat-screen television mounted on the wall in an out-of-the-way corner, patients are using the Wii Fit and Wii Sports packages to come back from injuries.
