Physiotherapists working with patients at a local health centre say Nintendo's Wii Fit video game is proving to be a valuable part of their 'Wii-habilitation.'

The game encourages patients to use a hand-held device to participate in simulated boxing, bowling or tennis games, or to stand on a board, which measures the amount of pressure a person is putting on their left and right feet, and compete in games that require you to shift your weight from side to side.
The video game system, which is played by millions of people around the world, features a variety of games, some of which have been picked for use by patients who have injured or lost their limbs or experienced a loss of motion due to the progression of neurological diseases or other ailments.
